Abstract: Cecropia pachystachya Tréc., C. glazioui Sneth. and C. hololeuca Miq. (non-myrmecophyte) are common pioneer forest trees in southeast Brazil. Diameter at breast height and height were measured in these species to compare allometric relationships in populations at six different sites in southeast Brazil, in an attempt to obtain general relationships for these species. Regression analyses and analysis of covariance were used in log-transformed date to compare species. Height explains a large proportion of variance in tree diameter (r²=0.871, 0.913 and 0.822 respectively). No significant difference was found between slopes. The data suggest that diameter-height relationship is indifferent to the ant asociations. There were significant differences between the line intercepts: C. glazioui and C. hololeuca intercepts were significantly larger than that od C. pachystachya. Therefore, for trees of the same height, the diameter of C. pachystachya will be always less than the other two species.
