Flávia Maria Darcie Marquitti
I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics, Evolution, Microbiology and Immunology at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Campinas, SP, Brazil. I am a biologist and an applied mathematician. Currently, I am also the Scientific Coordinator of the Training Program in Quantitative Biology and Ecology - Instituto Serrapilheira.
I am interested in applications of mathematics in ecological and evolutionary complex systems. In my research, I am investigating how different species form, go extinct and hybridize with and without the effect of spatial configuration and ecological interactions. I am also interested in understanding how rate of change can induce important transititions in eco-evolutionary systems.

I am PhD Student in the Department of Ecology at the Universidade de São Paulo, SP, Brazil. I have a biology degree and a masters degree in ecology from the Universidade Federal da Bahia, Salvador, BA, Brazil.
I am interested in investigating how ecological communities change in space and time. In my masters I investigated how environmental factors shape microbial communities across diverse ecosystems. In my PhD I investigate how the rate of environmental change influences the structure of coral reef communities.
Other Interests: Digital collage, painting/drawing, yoga, travelling.

I am a masters student at the Zoology Program at Universidade de Brasília, DF, Brazil, with a fellowship from Capes. I am interested in speciation and morphological evolution, especially in reptiles. Currently, I am studying the macroevolutionary patterns that result from the contraction and expansion of an area. In parallel, I studying which factors lead to the speciation of a group of cryptic species complex of geckos from the Brazilian Cerrado.
Other Interests: Painting, playing old video games and running.
